Per Google's Advertisements Assist Center, the metrics you need to focus on depend on your goal. Running a profits project? See ROAS and Certified Public Accountant. Building brand name awareness? Focus on impressions and reach. Driving leads? Conversions and conversion rate are your main signals. Going after engagement? CTR tells you whether your advertisements are resonating.

Track what aligns with your goal. Metrics surface area where that information points: which keywords lose budget, which advertisements pull clicks, which landing pages eliminate conversions. They inform you how frequently your advertisement appears and how typically people act on it.

High impressions paired with low clicks is an indication. Your ad isn't engaging, or you're targeting the wrong audience. Impressions alone don't indicate success, but they set the baseline for everything else. CTR is clicks divided by impressions. Per Google's Advertisements Assist Center, this metric tells you how often a click becomes the result you want. A low conversion rate generally points to a landing page problem, not an advertisement problem.

High-Conversion Design Tips for 2026 Digital Growth

Without it, you can not determine certified public accountant, ROAS, or conversion rate properly. This is total conversion value divided by overall advertisement spend. It gives you a fast ratio that approximates roi throughout your entire account.
